Wolston Correctional Centre

Prison

Wolston Correctional Centre is a high-security male correctional facility operated by Queensland Corrective Services.
Distinctively, the centre accommodates male prisoners classified as protection—that is, individuals who are at heightened risk from the general inmate population due to the severity or nature of their offences, or because they are subject to extended detention orders.
Because of this special status, Wolston regularly houses offenders convicted of violent crimes, serious sexual offences and other high-risk criminal behaviour.

In addition to secure custodial functions, the centre provides structured daily regimes combining industry work, education and training programs aimed at rehabilitation. For example, its workshops manufacture equipment for use in conservation programs.
If you are dealing with a criminal matter that may result in sentencing to or transfers within Wolston Correctional Centre, or you need legal assistance for someone detained there, BJH Law offers expert representation in matters such as bail applications, sentencing advocacy, parole processes, appeals and review of custody classification.

Additional Note on Criminal Case Types

Given Wolston’s role as a protection-facility, the types of criminal cases commonly associated with its inmates include:

  • Major violent offences (e.g., assault, murder)
  • Serious sexual offences, including those against children
  • Offenders subject to indefinite detention or extended orders for dangerous prisoners
  • Parole breaches, re-offending and high-risk management cases
